Amaechi’s Wife Denies Receiving ₦4bn Monthly from NDDC, Slams Wike’s Allegations as Baseless

Judith Amaechi, wife of former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, has strongly denied claims by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, that she received ₦4 billion monthly from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for women empowerment and training programs.

In a statement issued Tuesday through her spokesperson, Dike Bekwele, Judith described Wike’s accusations as “absurd, baseless, and a figment of his imagination,” adding that they amount to “subtle blackmail” aimed at scoring cheap political points.

Wike, in a July 2025 interview, alleged that Judith Amaechi had received a total of ₦48 billion from the NDDC. He also claimed she had been indicted in a corruption probe linked to the commission. However, Judith firmly refuted these claims, insisting neither she nor her NGO, the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI), ever received such funds.

“The partnership between ESI and the NDDC was based on jointly funded human capacity development programs to benefit youths and women in the Niger Delta,” the statement said.

Judith further challenged Wike to publicly release any forensic audit report in which she or ESI was indicted.
“In the likely event that Wike fails to provide such a report, then we challenge Mr. Wike to actuate his boast and resign as FCT Minister, offering an unreserved apology to the nation,” the statement added.

Wike and Amaechi, both former governors of Rivers State, have been political rivals for years, and their ongoing feud continues to shape public discourse in the Niger Delta region.
