Tell us briefly about yourself.

I’m AmEE, a versatile artist from Lagos, Nigeria. I’m a singer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, music arranger, educator, content creator, and entrepreneur. Originally known as Ame, I changed my name to AmEE to establish a distinct brand identity. AmEE, which means “water” in the Urhobo language from Delta State, symbolizes flow and adaptability, qualities I bring into my music and other ventures.

How long have you been in the music industry?

I’ve been active in the music industry since 1996.

What inspired you to join the music industry?

My journey began in my local church, where I started as a passionate singer and eventually became the lead vocalist, instrumentalist, and music director for various choirs. My deep love for music guided me to pursue it professionally in 1996. I formed my first band with talented instrumentalists, singers, and dancers, whom I trained and mentored.

Any challenges? How did you deal with them?

One significant challenge has been securing financial support. To overcome this, I utilized my musical talents by teaching music in schools, churches, and to individuals. I also raised funds through friends and supporters, which has helped sustain my brand and cover various expenses.

Tell us more about your latest release, “Fake Life.”

“Fake Life” is a song that addresses the pitfalls of social media, highlighting the dangers of imitating or believing everything you see online. The song uses comic elements to illustrate this message, such as a character whose makeup makes her look like a masquerade once it wears off. It’s a call to embrace authenticity and not be swayed by the superficiality often portrayed online.

What inspired “Fake Life”?

The inspiration for “Fake Life” came when I saw a friend’s birthday photo on Facebook and couldn’t recognize her due to the heavy makeup. This observation made me reflect on the concept of “fake” personas online. My producer and I discussed this theme, and it led to the creation of the song.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

I envision myself as a global touring artist. The name AmEE, meaning “water,” represents life and boundless flow. I aspire to use my music to unify people and break down barriers that hinder human progress.

What should your fans expect next?

I’m working on a new album set to release before the end of the year. It’s shaping up to be an exciting and impactful project.

One word for your fans?

Believe. Keep believing in yourself, and continue supporting me by streaming, liking, and engaging with my music and social media pages.
