Early Life and Background

Akachukwu Daniel Uchenna, professionally known as BFACE SSB, is a Nigerian Afrobeat recording artist, songwriter, and performer from Mgbowo, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria. Born on 6th February 1986, BFACE SSB was raised in a family where music and creativity were part of everyday life.

He is the son of the late Mr. Anthony Godwin Akachukwu and Mrs. Justina Ekperuchi Akachukwu, both of blessed memory. Although he was born in Abuja, his musical roots remain deeply connected to Enugu State, where his passion for music first began.

BFACE completed his primary and secondary education and is currently pursuing his university education as an undergraduate. His determination to succeed in music, however, became the driving force that shaped his life’s journey.

A Musical Heritage

Music runs in BFACE SSB’s bloodline. His late mother was a gifted songwriter who wrote numerous songs before her untimely death in 1993 at the age of just 32 years. Although she passed away while he was still very young, her passion for writing songs left a lasting impression on him.

His father was also an accomplished singer and dancer who performed with the renowned City Boys Band in Aba, Abia State. Having worked alongside legendary highlife musicians during his career, his father possessed extensive knowledge of live performances and stage entertainment.

Unknown to BFACE at the time, the musical gifts of both parents would eventually become the foundation of his own music career.

The Beginning of His Musical Journey

Following the death of his mother, young Daniel became actively involved in his community’s traditional cultural dance group. During one of the annual New Yam Festival celebrations in Mgbowo, his dance group participated in a cultural competition and emerged victorious.

That memorable experience sparked his confidence as a performer.

In 1999, his father relocated him to Port Harcourt, Rivers State. There, he joined a Cherubim and Seraphim Samba Band, where he learned to play musical instruments and travelled to different states for church and social events.

It was during one of these outings that an unforgettable experience changed the course of his life.

The First Public Performance

During a musical event, the band members were served alcoholic drinks after performing. Being the youngest member of the group and unfamiliar with alcohol, Daniel unknowingly drank some while the older musicians left to dance to a live band.

As the live band played songs by the famous Congolese musician Awilo Longomba, Daniel became inspired. Believing he could perform the songs better than the vocalist, he boldly walked onto the stage and insisted on singing.

To everyone’s surprise, the audience loved his performance.

According to members of the band, Daniel performed three Awilo songs with remarkable confidence and energy, entertaining the audience and generating substantial appreciation from guests.

Although the incident was humorous in hindsight, it became the first public indication that he possessed exceptional natural stage charisma.

Dreams That Shaped His Destiny

Even before becoming a professional musician, BFACE frequently experienced vivid dreams in which he saw himself performing before large crowds while people danced joyfully to his songs.

Whenever he shared these dreams with his father, they seemed unbelievable.

Years later, around 2014, his father also began having recurring dreams about Daniel performing on massive international stages, attracting huge audiences and achieving extraordinary success.

In those dreams, his father saw him becoming wealthy enough to buy him his favourite vehicle—a Pathfinder SUV—and establishing a successful building materials business for him.

His father often called him and jokingly asked,

“Where are the cars? Where is the house? Where is the building materials shop you built for me?”

Daniel would simply laugh because none of those things had happened in reality.

Unexpectedly, his stepmother later experienced similar dreams and shared them with both Daniel and his father. The striking similarities convinced the family that these dreams carried a deeper meaning.

A Divine Encounter

One of the most remarkable experiences in BFACE SSB’s life came through another powerful dream.

In the dream, while walking through a royal palace, he accidentally encountered the daughter of a king during a football game. After being insulted and wrongly accused, he was arrested by the palace guards and locked in the guardroom.

While in detention, he began singing beautiful songs.

The melodies captured the attention of the queen, who revealed that the same songs had been repeatedly playing in her dreams.

The king himself admitted experiencing similar dreams.

Immediately, he ordered Daniel’s release.

The king asked who owned the songs Daniel had been singing.

When Daniel replied that they were his own compositions, the king instructed him to kneel and then pronounced powerful blessings upon him.

For BFACE, this dream became a prophetic confirmation that his musical journey carried a greater purpose and that one day his gift would reach nations around the world.

Beginning His Professional Career

Inspired by these experiences, Daniel adopted the stage name BFACE African Star, which later evolved into BFACE SSB.

He recorded his first professional song at Caslow Hymns Music Studio, marking the official beginning of his recording career.

Since then, he has remained committed to developing his talent, improving his songwriting, and creating music that entertains, inspires, and connects with listeners from different backgrounds.

BFACE believes music is more than entertainment—it is a divine calling inherited from his parents and strengthened by faith.
