Oriade, Lagos – September 11, 2025
As part of its ongoing efforts to promote national unity, grassroots empowerment, and ethnic harmony, the leadership of the Global Ethnics Movement (GEM), Amuwo/Oriade Chapter, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Rasak Akorede Olojede, at the council secretariat in Satellite Town, Lagos.
The visit, which took place on Thursday, was led by the chairperson of GEM, Ms. Amaka Udeani, alongside other key executive members of the group, Mr. Valentine Ameh – GEM Vice Chairman, Comrade Stephen Benedict – GEM General Secretary, Mr. Gbenga Ayoade – GEM Spokesman/ Financial Secretary, Mrs. Adetunji Omotola – GEM Oriade Coordinator, and Mrs. Nancy Seth – GEM Oriade Secretary. The delegation was warmly received by Hon. Rasak Olojede, Executive Chairman of Oriade LCDA, Dr. Akinrolabu Olukayode, his Personal Secretary, and members of his administrative team.
The visit was primarily to formally introduce the Amuwo/Oriade chapter of GEM to the council leadership, as well as to seek collaboration on initiatives that promote peace, ethnic harmony, youth/community empowerment, and sustainable development in the community.
GEM is a non-governmental and socio-political organization committed to promoting the unity and cultural identity of Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups, while also championing inclusive governance and civic participation.
“We are here today to identify with your leadership and to assure you of our readiness to work together in areas that will benefit the good people of Oriade LCDA. Our movement believes in the power of unity across ethnic lines, and we recognize your efforts in promoting peace and development at the grassroots,” Mr. Gbenga said.
In his response, Hon. Rasak Akorede Olojede, who received the GEM Brochure, commended the group for their visit and for the noble objectives they represent. He also requested a reschedule of another meeting to discuss further with the group, highlighting the importance of unity among the various ethnic groups within Oriade LCDA
The visit concluded on a cordial note with both parties exchanging pleasantries and posing for group photographs to mark the visit.
As part of its broader national agenda, the Global Ethnics Movement will continue to build strategic alliances with government institutions, business owners, corporate organizations, traditional rulers, tribal associations, civil society organizations, and youth groups in its mission to champion cultural tolerance, peace, and equitable development across Nigeria — starting from the grassroots.
