Gombe State Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, who chairs the Northern States Governors’ Forum, has announced unyielding support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, citing significant achievements that validate northern backing.
Speaking at a two-day interactive conference hosted by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation at Arewa House, Kaduna, Governor Yahaya emphasized that the North’s swamp of political support in 2023—which contributed over 60% of Tinubu’s votes—was not misplaced. He highlighted the administration’s delivery on infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and security.
Among projects noted were the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano expressway, Kano–Katsina–Maradi rail line, Kaduna refinery rehabilitation, the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano gas pipeline, and the Kolmani oilfields drilling initiative—each acting as tangible pillars of President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
Thousands attended, including representatives from all 19 Northern states plus the FCT, with guests such as Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna, SGF Senator George Akume, service chiefs, ministers, and former governors.
At the same forum, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu reported a marked decrease in insecurity. As of May 2025, over 11,000 hostages had been rescued, and more than 300 bandit and terrorist leaders neutralized through coordinated operations in Zamfara, Kaduna, and Katsina. Ribadu also commended Kaduna State’s governor for using non-kinetic strategies to tackle unrest in Southern Kaduna.
Governor Yahaya praised Tinubu for unprecedented northern-focused investments, particularly in the livestock sector. He described the ₦120 billion Agro-Livestock Industrial Zone in Gombe—half funded by the federal government—as transformative, emphasizing that no previous leader in nearly five decades committed such resources to the industry.
Yahaya affirmed:
“For what President Tinubu has done, is doing, and will do, Gombe people—and by extension the North—will follow him to the battlefield blindfolded… His re‑election in 2027 is assured.”
He concluded by calling on northern stakeholders—governors, traditional rulers, civil society, and the private sector—to amplify these gains at community levels and sustain democratic development across the region.
