In a significant stride toward promoting national unity and grassroots development, key stakeholders of the Global Ethnics Movement (GEM) on Friday, September 19, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Wuraola Salimata Adewale, the Leader of the Legislative House in Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The visit, held at the legislative leader’s office in Oriade LCDA Secretariat, was part of GEM’s broader initiative to engage community leaders, foster collaboration on cultural integration, and advocate for inclusivity and empowerment at the local government level.
Led by the GEM Chairperson, Ms. Amaka Udeani, the delegation comprised of Mr. Valentine Ameh – GEM Vice Chairman, Comrade Benedict Stephen – GEM General Secretary, Mr. Gbenga Ayoade – GEM Spokeman/Financial Secretary, Mrs. Adetunji Omotola – GEM Oriade Coordinator and Mrs. Nancy Seth – GEM Oriade Secreatry, all united under the GEM platform—an organization committed to championing ethnic harmony, social equity, and sustainable development across Nigeria.
In her opening remarks, Hon. Wuraola Salimata Adewale warmly welcomed the delegation and lauded GEM’s grassroots engagement strategy especially with the GEM Presidential Grassroots Initiatives. She emphasized the importance of cultural dialogue and active community participation in governance, particularly in a diverse and dynamic constituency like Oriade.
“Our strength as a people lies in our diversity. The work GEM is doing is critical, especially now when we must deepen unity across ethnic and religious lines. With the Vibrant and Vision Oriented Executive Chairman – Hon. Rasak Akorede Olojede, Oriade LCDA remains open and willing to partner with any organization genuinely committed to peace, equity, and local empowerment,” Hon. Wuraola S. Adewale stated.
During the interactive session, GEM representatives outlined their ongoing projects, including Unity Summit, GEM Presidential Grassroots Initiative, empowerment programs structures and advocacy through GEM Voice. The team also presented Hon. Wuraola Salimata Adewale with GEM Brochure and also conducted GEM Voice interview with her.
In response, the legislative leader pledged the House’s support for future initiatives, highlighting the Council’s readiness to incorporate inclusive policies and provide legislative backing to promote intercultural and grassroots empowerment programs.
“We are committed to creating a legislative environment that uplifts all voices and drives people-centered development. With partners like GEM, we can expand the scope of our outreach and deepen our impact,” she added.
The meeting concluded with a group photograph and networking for subsequent communication and project alignment between GEM and the local legislative house.
