This platform allows him to perform his songs before a wider audience, get his songs reviewed by professional Judges, get further training for his music career growth, grow his fan base, gain promotion on Hip TV and social media, receive a FameNet Fans Awards nomination, and compete for the ₦1,000,000 cash prize.

1. Briefly introduce yourself.

My name is Peter Effiong Afahaeme, and my stage name is May P. I am an Afrobeat artist, although my musical journey began in gospel music. I started out singing and writing songs for my church choir, which helped shape my foundation in music. Over time, my sound evolved, and I transitioned into secular music, exploring hip-hop and Afro-inspired sounds. Today, I have chosen to focus mainly on Afrobeat, as it allows me to express myself creatively and connect deeply with a wider audience.

I was born on March 3, 1995, in Oron, Akwa Ibom State, where I also grew up. I am the son of Deaconess (Mrs.) Mary Effiong Afahaeme and Pastor Effiong Okon Afahaeme, whose guidance and values played a major role in shaping my character. Although I am originally from Akwa Ibom State, I currently reside in Abia State due to work and career demands.

2. What inspired or motivated you to pursue a career in music?

I am naturally an introvert, and growing up, I found it difficult to meet people or express myself verbally. Music became my safe space—a way for me to communicate my thoughts, emotions, and ideas without having to speak directly to anyone. Through music, I found a voice.

My decision to pursue music professionally came when I started listening to artists like 2Face Idibia and P-Square. Their music stood out to me because, at the time, songs were more about meaningful lyrics than just beats. Their lyrical depth and storytelling inspired me greatly, and I wanted to create music that could move people emotionally the same way theirs moved me.

3. When did you officially begin your music career?

I officially began my professional music career in 2022, when I recorded and released my first song titled “Blow.” Although the song didn’t receive much attention due to poor promotion, it marked the beginning of my journey as a recording artist and motivated me to keep going.

4. Have you recorded or released any songs?

Yes, I have officially recorded and released three songs so far. They include:

• Blow (2022)
• Nkem (2024)
• Omalicha (2025)

Each song represents a different phase of my growth as an artist, both musically and personally.

One of the biggest challenges I face as an independent artist is publicity and exposure. Yes, I don’t just believe—I am fully convinced. I have faith in my journey, my consistency, and the people who believe in my craft. I am confident that I will make it.

I always say I am my strongest fan, and the advice I give myself is what I also give to my supporters: always finish what you start. In the next five years, I see myself on the global stage, with my music being enjoyed in homes across the world. I see myself winning awards locally and internationally. Beyond fame and success, I also see myself becoming a home for the homeless and a hope for the hopeless.
