In this brief interview with FameNet Africa, Min. Ruth Patrick, talked about her journey so far in the music industry and her new track, God Will Do It
Q1: Please tell us about yourself and your journey so far in the music industry and gospel ministry. How did it all begin for you?
Min. Ruth Patrick: My full name is Ruth Ufuoma Patrick, and I am the firstborn in my family with three siblings. Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started singing around the age of four, even before I fully understood what ministry meant. When I gave my life to Christ at a very early age, gospel music naturally became my expression of worship. I joined the choir in my local church and began ministering to God through songs. That was the foundation of my journey—serving God with my voice long before thinking about platforms or recognition.
Q2: Your new song, “God Will Do It,” What inspired this song, and what personal or spiritual experience birthed it?
Min. Ruth Patrick: “God Will Do It” was born out of my personal experiences with God, especially moments when situations seemed impossible. I witnessed God turning impossibilities into testimonies. The song is a reminder that God will perfect His purpose in the lives of His children. Sometimes all He asks of us is to pray, trust Him, and patiently wait for His timing. That season of waiting inspired this song deeply.
Q3: What message are you hoping listeners will receive when they listen to “God Will Do It”?
Min. Ruth Patrick: The major lesson I hope to pass across is that no one should give up because of what they are going through at the moment. Today may be challenging, but tomorrow is loaded with God’s miracles. I want listeners to keep believing God’s promises concerning their lives. The tide will surely turn in their favor if they remain steadfast in faith.
Q4: How does this song reflect your faith and your walk with God at this stage of your ministry?
Min. Ruth Patrick: In my few years of walking and working with God, I have experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly. This song reflects my conviction that the expectations of the righteous cannot be cut off. God always shows up—sometimes when we least expect it. Through every season, He has remained faithful, and this song is a reflection of that journey.
Q5: Every minister and artist faces challenges. What have been some of the major challenges you’ve encountered, and how have you overcome them?
Min. Ruth Patrick: Challenges are a part of life, and my journey has not been exempt. One of the major challenges I have faced is visibility—getting the right promotional support to reach the right audience. This often requires financial resources and technical know-how. However, by God’s grace, things are improving. Platforms like FameNet Africa have helped encourage and support artists, giving us opportunities to cross borders and reach wider audiences.
Q6: In moments of doubt or difficulty, what keeps you motivated to continue ministering through music?
Min. Ruth Patrick: What keeps me going is God’s promises in His Word. I am confident that He will fulfill His Word in my life. The comfort of the Holy Spirit strengthens me, especially during moments of uncertainty. That assurance keeps me motivated to continue ministering through music.
Q7: How do you balance your role as a gospel minister with the demands of the music industry?
Min. Ruth Patrick: Honestly, it is not always easy, but God’s grace speaks for me. His strength is made available to me daily. Whenever things seem overwhelming, He makes a way. I rely on His guidance to maintain the right balance and stay focused on my calling.
Q8: Can you describe the creative process behind “God Will Do It,” from songwriting to production?
Min. Ruth Patrick: The song came into my spirit during a difficult experience in my life. It encouraged me personally to keep moving and never give up. Writing, recording, and production all happened in stages, and through every step, God took perfect control. The entire process reminded me that He has never failed me and never will.
Q9: How has the gospel music industry evolved since you started, and how have you adapted?
Min. Ruth Patrick: It has not been easy, but God has been faithful. The industry has evolved, especially with digital platforms and new ways of reaching audiences. I am learning to adapt while staying true to my calling and message.
Q10: Looking ahead, what can your fans and listeners expect next from you?
Min. Ruth Patrick: By God’s grace, there are many inspirational songs being birthed by the Holy Spirit. We are growing and improving every day. I believe strongly that the future is glorious, and I look forward to sharing more God-inspired music and ministry with the world.
